![]() Volunteer Opportunities for Parents Parents Leadership Council The Parents Leadership Council (PLC) serves as the executive body of the Ohio Wesleyan Parent Association. The Council provides a forum for discussion among College administrators and parents, and assists the development and implementation of volunteer activities that benefit OWU. The Council meets twice annually:
Council members offer leadership to University officials on a number of topics through committees on Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Advising and Career Development, Parents Fund and Resource, and Public Affairs and Admission. Alumni/Parent Admission Recruitment Team (A/PART) The A/PART program is a joint venture between the Office of Admission and the Office of Alumni Relations. This network of more than 600 alumni and parent volunteers assists in the recruitment process of prospective students, enhancing the personal approach of the University by assisting with college fairs, calling admitted students, submitting student referrals and attending regional admission events. Parent Speakers Bureau The “Speakers Bureau” consists of OWU parents who are willing to speak at Admission and Alumni Relations programs both on and off campus. The “Speakers Bureau” serves as a “go-to” list for the Admission Office and Alumni Relations to secure speakers and panelists throughout the year. Parent-to-Parent Calling The Parent-to-Parent calling program consists of parents who have volunteered to be called by parents of recently admitted students to help answer questions, encourage campus visits and promote Ohio Wesleyan. BISHOP NETWORK The alumni and parent to student career networking program sponsored by the Offices of Career Services and Alumni Relations provides valuable opportunities for students to contact volunteers for information on career fields, career paths and advice and networking regarding jobs and internships. Your experiences and expertise are invaluable to OWU students as they explore career options, set goals, and prepare for their future careers. Battling Bishop Connections Network: Regional Volunteers The network promotes interaction in a city/region and provides newcomers with valuable social and professional contacts. An active network will also provide a medium for alumni and parents to assist one-another as well as prospective students, current students, and young alumni—who seek guidance in pursuing their education, starting their careers or just “fitting in” to a new community.
